One of the questions I ask in coaching is “who has inspired you in your life?” My clients’ answers uncover their own values and life philosophies.

It is helpful to tune into the people you admire as they serve as reminders of the path you want to set forth for yourself.

Today I am reflecting on my late sister who inspired me to embrace a mindset of facing life with joy and courage. My sister was strong, fearless, and forward thinking. During her fight with cancer, she planned her wedding, bought a house, worked full time, and always expressed happiness to be with friends and family. I loved how this was how she approached life even during challenging times. The lessons my sister taught me have subsequently shaped my worldview.

From Liz,

  • I learned to live life to the fullest.

  • I learned to embrace possibility and hope.

  • I learned to find inner strength

  • I learned that even when someone is gone, their message can stay with you forever.

  • I learned that life is too short to compromise.

Now, or in the future, if you are looking at your path and trying to re-navigate it in some way, remind yourself of who in your life has inspired you to navigate life successfully, and the lessons you have learned from them. Then, try to find one way to put those lessons to action.
